Dr. Kimberly Kumabe empowers people with chronic health conditions to be in control of their health so that they can simplify medications, improve energy and quality of life, and live longer independently. She believes in personalized care and support, connection and communication, blending the science of traditional pharmacy with the art of whole-person wellness. She believes in moderation and that it is never too late to make small changes in habits that can still amount to big differences in health and the way a person lives their life. She meets her clients where they are in their journey and work together to strive towards their health goals. Her areas of focus and interest are lifestyle and preventive medicine, geriatrics, deprescribing, diabetes, and pharmacogenomics.
Dr. Kimberly Kumabe graduated from Punahou School before pursuing higher education at Boston University and the University of Southern California, where she earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree and a specialized certificate in Gerontology. With over a decade of experience, Dr. Kumabe has worked with both small local and large national companies in community pharmacy and long-term care consulting. Her extensive training includes medication therapy management, integrative pharmacy, and pharmacogenomics.
After more than 10 years in the pharmacy profession, Dr. Kumabe wanted to make a greater impact on her patients by:
--Ensuring their medications are truly necessary for their current health needs
--Helping them explore options and advocating for their health and well-being
--Promoting holistic healing by focusing on fundamental health principles
Determined to make a real difference in her patients' health, Dr. Kimberly Kumabe founded The One You, LLC. She is also the Functional Medicine Pharmacists Alliance Hawaii State Leader. Her functional medicine training has come from completing Integrative Pharmacy Specialist certifications and education programs.
Kimberly lives in Honolulu, Hawaii with her husband and 2 children. She enjoys traveling, going to the beach or pool, cooking, party and vacation planning, and yoga. Her belief and passion for functional medicine stems from a lifelong interest in holistic health that was reignited when wanting to live healthier while going through pregnancy and having children and then with dealing with her own diagnosis of prediabetes and wanting to stop it in its tracks before progressing to diabetes.
She also believes so much in turning health care into much more of a proactive and preventive approach after seeing so many patients month after month on the same medications or more without ever getting better and just watching and waiting until they get worse with no hope or faith in getting better. Her quest to find better health care options for herself, her family, and for her patients has led to spreading awareness and education of the importance of whole person and personalized health.
