This morning we went blackberry picking.. swipe right for my helpers! The field wasn’t all ripe yet, but we found as many ripe ones as we could!

I already shared this verse in the picture from 2 Timothy,a few weeks ago. I’m just going to make it my verse of 2020. I have been studying 2 Timothy with some of my amazing neighbors through the daytonwomenintheword summer study.

I went to visit my grandma today, I didn’t know what to do, she is not doing well. I’m not sure if she knew I was there or not. So many emotions run through me, some guilt mixed with the sadness.

I picked her bible off the floor, I saw this (verse in photo) in the front. I started bawling... and through my tears turned to Revelation and read aloud to her for awhile about the new heavens and glory to come and sang the best I could through the tears. I pray she isn’t suffering much longer.

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.””
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭21:4‬ ‭ESV‬‬

End of life is a hard time, it’s hard to watch not only those suffering, but those spending all hours and energy taking care of them. Often times caregivers can be isolated from community. Find those people in your life who are caregivers, take them a meal, sit with them and listen, give them a break, order them take-out. Community is so important now more than ever. Community is necessary for us to thrive in this life. A piece of our wellness is not us but the people we surround ourselves with. The church is not walls or a building, it is the people of God.

Tomatoes! Honestly I only Love a few varieties of tomatoes raw. These are #sungoldtomatoes and they are like 🍭!

Tomatoes have key carotenoids such as lutein and lycopene that protect your eyes against light-induced damage.

They are an excellent source vitamin C and potassium too!

I also love Roma tomatoes, they aren’t doing as well for me in the #towergarden , if any of you out there are growing #romatomatoes in a hydroponic garden and have tips let me know! Roma tomatoes are the best for making tomato paste.

Rainier Organic cherries are my fav. They remind me of Spain because we ate a lot of cherries when we spent a summer in Valencia. 🇪🇸

One of my favorite roles is teaching residents at the office. I get a whole year with someone and learn so much about them, and I learn so much from them. This one has taught me a lot, and it’s been a joy to watch her grow from early days cupharm to today!

I thought since I’m growing dill out my ears I’d include it in the picture. I made potatoes with dill this weekend for friends and added it to my egg skillet this morning. Dill is a good source of antioxidants and micronutrientsI I probably need to cut down more this week and freeze it in cubes with some butter or olive oil. 😋

I hope your summer is off to a great start. It’s definitely going to be a different kind of summer given the landscape of the pandemic. A good reason to make sure our bodies are fueled with proper nutritious foods and that we correct any nutrient depletions we may be experiencing.

I get a lot of questions about magnesium, it’s such a powerful mineral in the body and one that unfortunately is depleted in our soil with modern farming practices. This post was written by Dr. Kristina Burban, PharmD who was an intern with us in April from cupharm We will be sharing part 2 later this week where we will discuss various forms of magnesium.

Another edition of #thriving in a pandemic.. and honestly keys to thriving always....One key for me is studying the word and being consistent in #prayer and the second is being in #community.

For the first, my goal is to spend time in the word each day, but if I’m being honest that doesn’t always happen. I have to remind myself that sometimes meditating even a few verses of #scripture as I drive and spending time with Lord in prayer is equally important as spending thirty minutes diving into scripture and deciphering what the text meant to the people it was written to then and what it means for me today. All of this has been key to my spiritual growth, some days look different then others.

Community, you can’t do this alone, God didn’t call us to do it alone, that is the purpose of the church, our body of believers. Throughout my life, even from some of the people closest to me, I’ve heard “I believe in God, but I don’t believe in organized church.” This is not how we were designed by our creator. We need to be in community, to learn from one another, to care for one another, to rebuke and correct one another. The greatest moments and the hardest moments in my life I’ve been surrounded by God’s people. Corporate worship is essential to return to someday, but the largest growth in my life has been in small groups.

The last few months I had the pleasure of studying the word and this book with ladies in my neighborhood. Such a blessing to have been placed here by the Lord. ( we really tried and tried for months to buy a different house.. story for another day!) but seeing the why of us being here instead and the community here has been a huge blessing.

Find your community... it may be on zoom right now and as it warms up it may be in your driveway or backyard but engage with the people around you. It will never be a bad thing. It may be with your #kids and being interrupted a bazillion times but it’s worth it. “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” #Hebrews 10:24-25.

Super easy baked veggie frittata!

Sauté any veggies ...here I used mushrooms, broccoli, and spinach with some garlic and olive oil. Place in oiled baking dish. Add sundried tomatoes, then pour eggs over top. I added a bit of Parmesan cheese mixed in the eggs. (This is a dozen eggs in a 8x11 pan) Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes.

This is heading to k.a.r.i.s.s.a.k for dinner tomorrow with ambitiouskitchen ‘s Thai quinoa coleslaw to nourish momma and welcome baby boy!
